DOC Bird BANDING

Z3D scanned a variety of bird legs for the DOC bird banding program.

Once 3D scanned, the digital models were then 3D printed to scale in a tough plastic material then attached to soft toys representative of their real life counterparts. These are now used as training devices for bird banding volunteers to practice on before heading into the field.

Ancient MOA Pelvis

Human Dynamo and Z3D worked together on part of Te Taiao Nature at Te Papa, with a tactile reproduction of a Moa Pelvis.

The high resolution scan was copied at 1:1 scale and gives museum visitors a chance to get hands on with a priceless artifact with no fear of damaging the original subject.

“Traditional moulding techniques could not be used to replicate a very rare and fragile fossilised Moa pelvic bone, Z3D used photogrammetry to capture it all for a us to produce a physical model”
- Tony Drawbridge (Fabrication Manager - Human Dynamo)

O’Sushi Art SCaN

As part of a project run by Human Dynamo, Z3D advised on and captured a mega resolution scan for a 12*4m mural.

Found outside Moore Wilsons Porirua, this 1000 mpx artwork reproduction was printed on 48sqm of ACM and later cut into tiles for a more traditional aesthetic.
